The Racing and Equestrian Academy

The Racing and Equestrian Academy is based in Kwa-Zulu Natal and has been operating as a jockey training institution since 1960. The Academy was situated in Marianhill, outside Pinetown for almost 11 years before moving to its present location in Summerveld in 1971. Summerveld is the heart of Kwa-Zulu Natal’s horse country and is situated about 50km west of Durban . Due to the demand for an equestrian centre an equestrian course was introduced at the Academy in 1998 for Grade 10 – 12 pupils interested in pursuing a career in the equestrian industry.  

Summerveld is a wonderful place for young men and women to mature and develop. With its lovely country atmosphere it remains a mere 15 minutes from major shopping centres and 30 minutes from central Durban so all modern conveniences are close by. The Racing and Equestrian Academy is divided into 2 schools sharing many common facilities and a common administration.
